Smile Cookie Week returns to Tim Hortons again Sept. 13, and 100% of the proceeds from their sale at Cobourg and Colborne locations will be donated this year to Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre.

These iconic chocolate-chunk cookies topped with a big smiley face in pink and blue icing will be available at Tim Hortons across the country, and Cornerstone will reap the returns from sales at the four Cobourg and one Colborne locations.

Cornerstone has been providing vital services to women and children impacted by domestic violence for almost 40 years, working to break the cycle of family violence by providing immediate shelter, counselling and prevention services throughout Northumberland County.

Cornerstone Executive Director Nancy Johnston said they are honoured to be part of this major campaign.

“Funds generated from the campaign will directly benefit the many women and children in our community impacted by family violence, and help us create a place where hope grows,” Johnston said in the press release.

“We are so grateful to be selected as the charity of choice for the Cobourg and Colborne locations,” Cornerstone Manager of Community Engagement Janelle Eisler added.

“Having Tim Hortons and the communities' support via Smile Cookie will truly pass along a smile as we help our clients navigate their current situation in search of a safer violence-free future.”

The $1 Smile Cookies can be purchased Sept. 13 through 19, and you can even pre-order large quantities by completing the pre-order form at cornerstonenorthumberland.ca/cookies.

You can also show your support in person, as the Colborne and Cobourg locations are looking for volunteers help decorate the cookies and work the drive-throughs. If you'd like to sign up, e-mail jeisler@cornersetonenorthumberland.ca
