Rebranded local Highland Games moving to Port Hope

After 59 years in Cobourg, the local Highland Games are moving to Port Hope.

The announcement was made on social media on Dec. 21 and stated that a larger space is needed for competitors, vendors and attendees than Victoria Park in Cobourg provides. There is also free parking at the Port Hope location as opposed to the $5 per hour and $40 daily paid parking in Cobourg.

Now rebranded as the “Northumberland Scottish Festival and Highland Games,” the event will be held at the Port Hope Agricultural Park on June 14 and 15 in 2024. The event features Celtic music, competitions in solo piping and drumming, pipe bands, highland dancing, and heavy events.

The new website is NorthumberlandHighlandGames.ca. Early bird tickets went on sale Jan. 1.
