Cougars players key contributors for Canada East at World Junior A Challenge

Cobourg Cougars forwards Andy Reist and Trevor Hoskins helped lead Canada East to a silver medal at the World Junior A Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia from Dec. 10 to 17.

Canada East was defeated 7-2 by Canada West in the gold medal final. Teams from the United States, Sweden and Slovakia also competed. 

Reist and Hoskins compete for the Cougars in the Ontario Junior Hockey League while Canada East also featured players from the Central Canada Hockey League, Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, Quebec and Maritime junior leagues.

Hoskins led the tournament in points with 12 and was named to the tournament’s all-star team. Reist, who is also the Cougars captain, wore the ‘C’ for Canada East.

Heading into the holiday break, they were two of the top scorers in OJHL and are both headed to St. Lawrence University on NCAA hockey scholarships next season.
