Drug Arrest and Warrant Executed in the Town of Cobourg

As part of an ongoing enhanced enforcement strategy targeting illegal drug activity affecting Northumberland County and the safety of our citizens, the Cobourg Police Service commenced a drug investigation.  

On Tuesday, December 21, 2021, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch, with the assistance of the Port Hope Criminal Investigations Branch, arrested a man in connection to the ongoing investigation. After the arrest, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant was executed at a Division Street address.

As a result of this investigation and search of the residence, police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.

The 35 year old Cobourg resident, is charged with: 

  1. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances

  2. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances

  3. Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000 – contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and scheduled to appear in court in January 2022.

Police seized approximately 120 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 1.5 grams of suspected cocaine. Police also seized cash, weigh scales and a cell phone.
