The Town of Cobourg is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Taylor Scott as the new Director of Building and Planning, effective Jan. 24, succeeding Director of Planning and Development Glenn McGlashon on his retirement.
Taylor Scott joins municipal staff with a wide range of experience as a professional planner with more than 18 years of senior-level municipal experience, 13 of them within the Building and Planning Department at the Municipality of Clarington. She has previously held positions with the Town of Port Hope and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
“The experience that Ms. Taylor Scott will bring to the Town of Cobourg as the Director of Planning and Development will be very valuable for our community,” Mayor John Henderson said in the announcement.
“On behalf of council and town staff, we welcome Ms. Taylor Scott to her new role and look forward to working with her and her dedicated team.”
Taylor Scott will provide strategic leadership in the areas of land-use planning, environmental stewardship, community development, and development and approvals within the Town of Cobourg. Her professional mandate is to foster a positive and productive environment that provides both professional and expert advice to council, town staff, members of the public and key stakeholders.
“I am incredibly honoured to be joining the team at Cobourg as the Director of Planning and Development,” Taylor Scott stated.
“I can already tell I am joining a group of kind and talented staff who are passionate about all things Cobourg. Building relationships with council, staff, residents and stakeholders in the development industry will be integral to my transition to Cobourg.”
Taylor Scott is currently nearing completion of her Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Public Administration and Leadership at Ryerson University that will complement her degree in Environmental Studies and Urban and Regional Planning and other professional courses completed over the years.
She will begin working on implementing recommendations from the Service Level Delivery Review, Organizational Review and the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to further corporate initiatives that will move the organization forward with a high level of focus on customer service.
“I’m impressed with the great work already underway in the department, including progressive work on green development standards, affordable housing and heritage conservation,” Taylor Scott said.
“I look forward to maintaining that great momentum, as we assist in the implementation of the strategic goals of the Town of Cobourg while navigating both the challenges and opportunities facing a growing, prosperous and diverse Cobourg.”
