With the free shuttle service for grocery shoppers in Colborne following the loss of their Foodland store no longer available, Community Care Northumberland announces the $10 round-trip ride to get your groceries.
The agency has always offered a transportation service for Northumberland residents on a per-kilometre basis, and was a key player in arranging the free shuttle that initially served Colborne residents in the three weeks following the May 24 fire that destroyed the village's only grocery store. With some reports forecasting a closure lasting as long as two years, this presents a less expensive alternative to their regular transportation service.
The rides are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, and must be booked no later than 2 p.m. the day before. Though rides may also be booked for Mondays and Fridays, some restrictions apply (call for details).
Rides are $5 each way - $10 round-trip – and are offered to grocery stores in Cobourg and Brighton.
