The Municipality of Port Hope has issued a terse announcement that it has reached an amicable settlement with the Province of Ontario for the purchase of the lands located at 2655 Lakeshore Rd. in Wesleyville.
The original purchase agreement between the municipality and Ontario Power Generation was entered into in February, under which 1,300 acres of land would be sold to the municipality. The following month, the municipality was abruptly notified by the province that it was stopping the sale from proceeding.
Though the announcement had a quote from Mayor Bob Sanderson, as per the terms of the agreement, the municipality will not be providing further comment,.
“We look forward to further discussions with the province related to this property and the potential it has for our community and Northumberland County,” Sanderson said.
