Busy Thursday Night For Cobourg Police

The Cobourg Police Service were busy overnight with three arrests made in three separate incidents.

At 7:53 pm police received a call regarding an assault that had just occurred near Division Street just north of downtown Cobourg. Upon arrival police spoke to the victim and an independent witness. It was determined that the victim was confronted by his ex-girlfriend of over having a new girlfriend. The woman accused punched him several times in the head then proceeded to spit in his face and hit him on the side of his face with a flashlight causing his glasses to break. 

As a result of the police investigation a 37-year-old woman from Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following:

  1. Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code

  2. Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code

  3. Breach of Recognizance contrary to section 145 (3) of the Criminal Code

Names will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.

Later on Thursday evening, while on patrol in the area of University Street west at approximately 10:15 pm, police observed an interior light on in a vehicle. Police found this to be suspicious and checked the area and found a woman rummaging inside another vehicle.

As a result of the police investigation Tiffany Bowen, 32-years-old, from Cobourg was arrested for:

Possession of Property obtained by Crime under $5000 x3 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

Theft under $5000 x3 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

Trespass at night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code

Breach of probation x6 contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Tiffany Bowen was charged with multiple property crime offences and was held for a bail hearing.

In a third event, at 1:10 am this morning, a man was arrested for possessing a spring activated knife. Further investigation revealed that the man was on court-imposed conditions for possessing a prohibited weapon.

29-year-old Blair Spencer of Toronto was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  1. Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code

  2. Possession Contrary to Order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code

Spencer was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in November of 2019.
