On May 11, McDonald's customers across Canada celebrated McHappy Day.

Last week, West Northumberland McDonald's customers, staff and community volunteers celebrated the $15,205 that resulted from the community's support of both McHappy Day and fundraising efforts leading up to it in that went to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

“We are amazed by the success of local McHappy Day fundraising, and feel truly honoured to have been chosen as the 2022 local recipient of this annual charitable event,” NHH Foundation Executive Director Rhonda Cunningham said in the announcement.

“McHappy Day really demonstrates how every dollar can make a difference and the impact our community can have collectively. We want to thank our new partners and the hard-working team at the Cobourg and Port Hope McDonald's locations, as well as our volunteers and community, for their support.”

Foundation Community Engagement and Events Specialist Megan Fluxgold said these funds will support the hospital's Maternal Child Care Program.

“Specifically, we had a goal to fund two Radiant Newborn Warmers, and this goal was not only met but exceeded,” Fluxgold stated - “it's impressive!”

In addition to the McDonald's teams, Fluxgold said, “I want to give a special shout-out to our Foundation volunteers who joined us and brought their lively spirit to the event, welcoming customers at the door, greeting those in the drive-thrus, sharing information about our cause, and collecting donations. We could not have had as much success without this dedicated group.”
