RAY ON THE RADIO

Fridays at 5-7pm

When Friday rolls around, Ray’s got the soundtrack to kick off your weekend. It’s two hours of great music, local flavor, and a healthy dose of fun — the kind of show that keeps you smiling on the drive home or while you’re winding down from the week.

Ray mixes classic hits, fresh finds, and stories from around Northumberland, all with his trademark humor and easygoing style. Whether he’s chatting with local artists, spinning your favorite tunes, or cracking a joke or two, Ray keeps things real and entertaining.

So grab a snack, turn up the dial, and start your weekend right with Ray on the Radio, every Friday from 5 to 7 on Northumberland 89.7 — where good music and good company come standard.

STAGE LEFT THE PLAYERS

TUESDAYS JUST AFTER THE NEWS AT 6

Stage Left the Players is an on-air collaboration between the Northumberland Players and 89.7 FM to celebrate Fifty Years of the Players. The multi-generational theatre company has been bringing quality entertainment to Cobourg and Northumberland for five decades. From our humble beginnings at the CCI to the Victoria Hall, the Best Western Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre, Victoria Hall, and the Capitol Theatre Arts Centre.

This weekly half-hour show runs every Tuesday night just after the local news. Your host Victor Svenningson will introduce you to the rich fabric of their membership. We will meet directors, actors, producers, stage managers, as well as many of the skilled members who create the costumes, props, sets, sounds and lights that bring our plays to life.

SWEET SEASONS - Dale Patterson

Fridays at 10am

It's a trip back in time. Every week Dale Patterson selects a "Season" in Top 40 rock 'n roll history and plays the music from that time. He also looks back at the news events of that time, the popular TV shows and what was playing in movie theatres. It could be the summer of 1963, the spring of 1968, the winter of 1975 or the fall of 1981. Tune in and find out!

SUNDAY COFFEE HOUSE - GREG SCHATZMANN

SUNDAYS AT NOON

Hosted by a professor of radio broadcasting (so you know it’s well-timed and well-structured), this focuses on the kind of music you’d hear in a hip coffeehouse on a Sunday: mellow, acoustic, jazz-inflected folk. Very listenable voice.

SUNDAY MORNING BRUNCH - GLENN MCLAREN

SUNDAYS AT 7AM

Early-morning wake-up featuring very diverse music selection, ranging from funk to soul to classic rock to disco to the lighter strains of ā€˜70s soft-rock and r&b. Focuses on the concept of ā€˜double-shots’ (i.e. playing two of one artist in a row, so as not to lose the general ā€˜vibe’ so easily).
