Stay-At-Home Order forces second postponement of art exhibition

By Cecilia Nasmith

Cobourg Downtown Business Improvement Association announces a second postponement of the Paddle to the “C” self-guided art tour.

There has been considerable interest in the exhibition of 40 small paddleboards painted by local artists which would have been added to downtown storefront windows, Allyson McLean said in the announcement. But the initial May 10 launch date, which was postponed to May 21, has been cancelled again.

“To align with the provincial Stay-At-Home Orders, the DBIA board of management must announce that the Paddle to the “C” will be postponed,” the announcement said.

The exhibition was meant to symbolize the downtown businesses' resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as their connections to Lake Ontario.

Once the Stay-At-Home Order is lifted, the intention is to launch the exhibit for an extended display period. The boards will be available for purchase at the end of the exhibition term, with a portion of the proceeds going back to the participating artists.
