Port Hope announces new Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture

The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to announce that Julia Snoek has been appointed the Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture, following the retirement of Jim McCormack.
“Following a fulsome recruitment process - including many external applicants and in-depth interviews - Julia’s experience and proven track record placed her at the top,” Chief Administrative Officer David Smith said in the announcement.
“Julia is well connected with the community and highly regarded by staff. This promotion is a testament to her talents and hard work.”
Snoek began working at the municipality 20 years ago through a work placement for her Sports Administration Diploma. She was was hired on as a Program Coordinator, where she implemented and ran recreation programs and community partnerships. Her role expanded to the Community Development Program Manager in 2016, where she exemplified her commitment to public service, collaboration and leadership.
“I am so pleased and honoured to have this opportunity and to work in this new capacity,” Snoek commented.
“I look forward to continuing to build on the services and opportunities which contribute greatly to the Port Hope community.”
As the Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture, Snoek is a member of the corporate senior management team and is responsible for the planning, administration, management and operation of the parks, recreation, culture and waterfront services.
