Police advise businesses to take precautions against theft

The Cobourg Police Service is advising business owners to protect and harden commercial businesses. The Province has announced that that all non-essential businesses remain closed. Please see the below tips to prevent damage and theft to businesses:

·      Remove valuables from your store display

·      Ensure all the doors and windows are locked and secure

·      Consider putting in a surveillance system/alarm clearly post a sign saying you have them

·      There is a laminate product that can be put on windows to make it difficult to gain entry

·      Try and clear your business area from objects that can be used to gain entry to your premise (i.e. bricks or stands)

·      Consider getting extra exterior lighting/motion sensors

·      Clean windows and doors as much as possible to assist investigators

·      Regularly check your business and keep a log of when you last attended. Try and make your checks at different hours during the day/night

·      If a business is well kept it will discourage potential thieves

 

Following these few tips will assist in keeping your business locations secure.
