By Cecilia Nasmith

Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services invites interested members of the public to attend their Feb. 27 Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Information Night at the Port Hope Community Hub (5325 County Road 10).

Fire Chief C. Ryan Edgar said in the press release that they're looking for a few more exceptional individuals to join their dedicated team.

“Our Volunteer Firefighters are notably reliable, prepared to respond to a call at any given moment and responsible for executing assigned tasks related to an all-hazards response approach,” the chief said.

“They provide an exceptional level of customer service to the public through emergency response, fire-safety education and community events, and we’re looking forward to recruiting more members of this caliber to the service.”

The information session will have fire and emergency-services staff on hand to explain the volunteer firefighter recruitment process, the mandatory training requirements, and details about the position as a whole - including equipment, licensing requirements, incident and training response requirements, public engagement, education, compensation and insurance.

Members of the community interested in applying are strongly encouraged to attend this session, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

For application information, contact the Fire Administration office at 905-753-2230 or visit porthopefire.ca.
