Cobourg has a Brownie Award winner

Councillor Nicole Beatty announced at Monday's meeting that Cobourg can now boast a Brownie Award winner.

The planning department was represented by Director of Planning and Development Glenn McGlashon in Toronto last week for the Brownie Award ceremony, an award presented by the Canadian Brownfields Network and Actual Media which recognizes innovation and leadership in community projects dealing with brownfield areas.

Though Cobourg did not win, its Tannery initiative took third place – the project in the George Street area to remediate the area where a tannery operated for many decades.

“It was recognized as excellent,” Beatty said, adding that the project's final phase should be activated in early 2020.
