By Cecilia Nasmith

The Town of Cobourg has announced that council has postponed its Feb. 12 Opioid Community Summit Public Meeting.

“Municipal council would like to ensure the Opioid Community Summit is well represented, and will engage all community stakeholders in order to present an integrated and cross-sectoral community response,” the announcement stated.

The session was intended as a follow-up to October's well-received round table session on this issue that resulted from a motion by Councillor Adam Bureau.

In order to continue dialogue and discussion, this week's announcement said, member of the public are being encouraged to provide online feedback through the town's online engagement platform Engage Cobourg at www.engagecobourg.ca. Just log on, register, click on the project page Opioid Community Summit, and visit the forum to offer your comments.

Council will monitor the platform actively to ensure all issues and concerns raised are included in a report at the next scheduled public meeting, and extend thanks to citizens and stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
