The record high water levels of Lake Ontario continues. Recent heavy rainfalls have added to the problem. Much of Cobourg's beach remains flooded. Erosion has obliterated much of the lakefront walking trail in Port Hope. Hopes were high that warming weather and dryer conditions would see lake levels decline. However, on the first day of summer, expectations of dry sandy beaches are declining. Cobourg Tourism is still predicting that the famed SandCastle Festival will continue as planned.
