The convenience of glancing at the Victoria Hall clock tower to learn the time is not something people will be able to do in August, as the Town of Cobourg is currently preparing to replace the clock mechanism.
The press release from the town notes that the clock on the east face of the tower had its hands removed earlier this year. This allowed them to be used as a model to replicate new hands for all four clock faces.
This project was approved in the 2018 capital budget, the bulletin said, and is partially funded by a generous contribution from the Victoria Hall Volunteers.
The town expects the work will be completed before the end of August, at which time the clock will once again serve the commnity from all four directions.
