Record raised for Hike, Bike and Bark

By Cecilia Nasmith

Organizers of the annual Hike Bike and Bark for Hospice fundraiser are pleased to announce a record year for 2022, with $61,629 raised to support local hospice services.

The hybrid event kicked off Aug. 27 and ran until Sept. 10, with participants hiking, biking or walking a furry friend. At the big wrap-up pancake breakfast Sept. 10 at Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, two outstanding achievements were announced. Long-time participant Selena Forsyth was the top individual fundraiser, bringing in more than $9,000. And the top individual team – the Gazelles led by Jennifer Darrell – brought in more than $15,000.

Community Care Northumberland Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird said the funds this event bring in are critical to the hospice care provided by the agency, “whether you are living in your home in the community or while a resident at Ed's House.

“Many thanks go out to all our generous sponsors, donors, participants, and to the dedicated members of our Special Events Committee for all their efforts in making this event such a tremendous success.”
