GO-VAXX Bus hits Cobourg May 15

By Cecilia Nasmith

The Town of Cobourg's Community Services Division will host the GO-VAXX Bus Mobile Vaccine Clinic at the Cobourg Community Centre (750 D'Arcy St.) on May 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While walk-ins will be accepted, as long as supplies last, members of the public are also invited to make advance appointments for first, second, third or booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine – starting May 11 at 8 p.m. - through the provincial booking website at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact centre at 1-833-943-3900. Please be sure to mention the GO-VAXX clinic when scheduling your appointment.

The Ontario government has partnered with Metrolinx to make the GO-VAXX program possible by providing a safe, reliable and convenient vaccine option. GO buses have been converted into mobile vaccine clinics that can be brought directly to people wherever they may be located – malls, festivals, community hubs and events across southern Ontario and beyond.

GO-VAXX buses provide the Pfizer vaccine for shots for those aged 12 and up, as well as the pediatric Pfizer vaccine for young people aged five to 11.

Carrying up to 300 doses per day, each bus operates as a fully functioning vaccination clinic with all necessary supplies and trained staff to help people and ensure shots are administered safely.

All COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed on board, including the required pre-vaccination screening and post-vaccination monitoring, and these buses are fully accessible.

If you are planning to make use of this service, please remember:

  • Bring your health card. If you do not have a health card, or if your health card is expired, bring another form of government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's licence, passport, status card or birth certificate.

  • Eat and drink something in advance to avoid feeling faint or dizzy while being vaccinated.

  • Dress for the weather in case there is a line-up.

  • Wear clothing that allows for easy access to your upper arm, such as a loose-fitting top or T-shirt.

  • Wear a mask that covers your nose, mouth and chin.

  • Do not visit the GO-VAXX bus if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
