Over 3 million in drugs seized in Cramahe

As a result of a traffic stop in the early hours of the morning, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a significant amount of drugs worth an estimated street value of $3,358, 544 dollars.

On Thursday February 10, 2022, at approximately 03:10 a.m., a member of the Northumberland OPP observed a vehicle with no tail lights driving eastbound on Highway 401 at County Rd 25, in Cramahe Township. The officer conducted a traffic stop and observed cannabis was readily available to the driver.

As a result of the investigation, the officer, with the assistance of the Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), seized the following items:

  • 9416 grams of cannabis bud

  • 8071 grams of hash (resin)

  • 568 grams of shatter (resin)

  • Vape pens (386 pens / 568 grams of concentrate)

  • 5358 edible packs (2,772,100mg)

 

Kabilan ANURA (age 25) of Brampton Ontario, stands charged with the following offences:

 

  • Possession of over 30g of dried cannabis - Cannabis Act 8(1)(a)

  • Possession of illicit cannabis - Cannabis Act 8(1)(b)

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing - Cannabis Act 9(2)

  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code - Criminal Code 320.18(1)(a)

  • Drive without proper lights - motor vehicle - Highway Traffic Act 62(1)

  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available - Cannabis Control Act 2017 12(1)

 

The accused party was arrested and released on an undertaking and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on March 23rd, 2022, in the Town of Cobourg.
