McDonald's continues to support NHH Maternal Child Care Unit

Last month, the Port Hope McDonald's used the occasion of its grand reopening weekend to raise funds for Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

Next month, all three Cobourg-Port Hope McDonald's restaurants will show their support – having, for the second year in a row, choosing the foundation as the beneficiary of their annual McHappy Days fundraiser on May 10.

These funds will help purchase newborn bassinets for the hospital's Maternal Child Care Unit.

Foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham said they feel fortunate to have such community partners.

“We saw the collective impact our community can make when they come together to support a cause last McHappy Day, and we are looking forward to seeing this once again as we prepare to welcome guests on May 10,” Cunningham said in the announcement.

The restaurants are located at 175 Rose Glen N. in Port Hope, 805 William St. in Cobourg and inside the Walmart at 73 Strathy Rd., Cobourg – and the three of them are not waiting until May 10 to start the fundraising. Their owner-operator Lisa Wilson said it's “a chance to show our support and gratitude to all of the incredible people that work so hard to care for our community. We look forward to hosting the community, and encourage everyone to join us in showing our support.”

As McDonald's Canada's longest-running and largest community charitable initiative, this nation-wide annual day of community giving supports Ronald McDonald Houses as well as local charities selected by individual franchisees. The 2023 event is the 29th McHappy Day, during which 10% of all product sales in these three McDonald's outlets support McHappy Day fundraising – 75% of these funds going to the NHH Foundation and the remainder to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
