Cobourg Transit terminal temporarily relocated due to roadwork

By Cecilia Nasmith

The relocation of the Cobourg Transit terminal is one of the impacts to result from the Albert Street road widening project, as the stretch between Division and Third streets will be closed to through traffic from Sept. 26 through Nov. 30.

Along with the 75-m widening, roadwork will include improvements to the existing traffic signals at Division and Albert. The town has contracted Behan Construction for the project.

During this time, there will be no access to Albert Street parking lots from the intersection of Division and Albert streets. Municipal parking lots in that vicinity (Victoria Square, Second Street, Third Street and Albert Street) will remain open, but will be accessible only from the west.

The downtown transit terminal will be shifted to Third Street, behind the LCBO. A temporary transit stop will be erected there and, during the construction period, all downtown terminal booking locations will be served at the temporary Third Street stop location south of Albert Street.
