Artists challenged to create Selfie Frames
By Cecilia Nasmith
The Town of Cobourg’s Community Services Division is seeking submissions from local artists to design and build creative and interactive Selfie Frames that will be installed near the Cobourg Marina and the Victoria Park Campground this summer.
The town has issued guidelines on what will be required for both installations.
The Selfie Frame that will be installed on the lawn at the Cobourg Marina must:
· Be self-standing with the ability to be weighed down to secure it from wind.
· Have a nautical theme and incorporate images and/or items that are characteristic of Cobourg.
· Incorporate interactive elements with space for two to three people to pose, and ensure accessibility for those in a wheelchair (opening between 3.5 feet to 6 feet).
· Include handles on the back to ensure stability for those taking photos.
· Incorporate the Experience Cobourg logo (which the town will provide) and the following social media handles and hashtags:
o Instagram: @ExperienceCobourg
o Facebook: @CobourgMarina
o Twitter: @ExpCobourg
o #ExperienceCobourg
The Selfie Frame to be installed on the lawn at the Cobourg Marina, must meet the same criteria – except for having a camping theme instead of a nautical theme.
Successful applicants will receive $500 that will go towards the creation and development of the Selfie Frame.
Interested residents have until Friday, April 30, to submit a conceptual drawing to Events Co-ordinator Jackie Chapman-Davis (e-mail jchapmandavis@cobourg.ca or call 905-373-7976 for more information).
The successful applicant must also be able to complete and deliver the Selfie Frame to the Cobourg Marina office located at 103 Third Street by Friday, May 21.
