Call goes out for Cramahe committee members

By Cecilia Nasmith

The Township of Cramahe advises residents that they are now accepting applications for several committees.

Three members each are needed for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, Transportation Advisory Committee and Water and Wastewater Advisory Committee.

As well, two provincially appointed members are required for the Police Service Board. You can visit Ontario’s Public appointments website to fill out an application.

The announcement notes that committees are an essential part of council's governance form, made possible by the dedicated people who volunteer their time and energy to serve. They provide council with input about a wide variety of subjects through discussion, presentations and recommendations. Some committees also organize and participate in community events.

Committee terms run concurrent with the four-year council term. They offer residents a unique chance to volunteer their highly valued skills, diversity and knowledge to foster a shared sense of community.

All committee meetings are open to the public and are listed on the township calendar. These meetings provide an opportunity for residents to delegate on matters that are related to the committee's mandate or items on the agenda.

If you would like to become a part of these committees, e-mail the clerk's department at clerk@cramahe.ca. Applications are available at the township office (1 Toronto St., Colborne) or at the Cramahe Committees and Boards webpage .
