CCN welcomes successor to Lynda Kay

By Cecilia Nasmith

With the retirement of Lynda Kay as Community Care Northumberland's Director of Donor Relations and Ed's House Foundation looming next month, CCN has announced that Joel Scott will step into the position.

It's a responsibility he acknowledged in the announcement.

“Lynda has spent 30 years creating a path of good will and fundraising infrastructure in our community with a selflessness that is rare,” Scott said.

“To me, it's about stewardship. It's about sharing with the community what has been created and building, growing and developing everything that CCN and Ed's House mean to our community.”

Born in Cobourg, Scott returned to the community in 2002 to help launch STAR 93.3 FM, where he had the morning show for almost 15 years. He has also been active in the community as a volunteer, coach, event host and emcee for such events as the Ed's House fundraiser Handbags For Hospice and the annual Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame banquet – as well as a licensed mortgage agent.

Looking ahead to starting the job on Sept. 19, he said, “There's a bunch of superheroes within this organization doing such incredible work. I'm looking forward to joining this team, sharing all of the stories and work CCN does, and building on the legacy that Lynda and the CCN team have built.”

CCN Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird is excited to welcome Scott aboard.

“With his connections to the Northumberland community, friendly demeanour and passion for helping others, we know he will be a great asset,” Baird said.

“Joel has large shoes to fill, but I know he is up for the challenge of contributing to the legacy of Lynda Kay and her commitment to the charitable efforts of CCN.”

As of Sept. 19, Scott can be reached at 905-885-0466 or j.scott@commcare.ca
