The County of Northumberland has announced that the recent COVID-19 outbreak at the Golden Plough Lodge long-term-care home has been declared over.

A confirmed positive case in one staff member has resolved with no transmission to residents or other staff.

Administrator Bill Detlor said in the announcement that he is delighted to share the news with residents, families and staff.

“We appreciate the on-going support from our public-health partners as we strive to exercise the greatest caution in our work to keep residents and staff safe,” Detlor said.

“We will continue with strict infection control measures – including PPE use by all staff, twice-daily active screening of all staff and residents, and continued rapid antigen testing of all staff – as we maintain our strong defence against this virus.”

Visitor restrictions remain in place at the Golden Plough Lodge in accordance with heightened provincial restrictions, with one Essential Caregiver per resident permitted
