Cobourg Mayor Gil Brocanier confirmed with Northumberland 89.7 that plans to relocate the Northumberland YMCA to the grounds of the Cobourg Community Centre will not proceed. The Mayor says that the YMCA and the Town "have reached mutual agreement that the YMCA will not be building at the CCC" grounds. Brocanier said negotiations to incorporate the YMCA and the CCC at one facility have been ongoing for some time. Negotiations did not break down. It was a matter of costs with the YMCA feeling such a move would be too "pricey." The Mayor believes each party will be issuing a press release shortly.
