Mayor John Henderson shared words of praise for the smooth operation of the COVID-19 vaccination centre set up at the Cobourg Community Centre.
Along with the Trent Hills Emergency Base in Campbellford, it comprises the mass-vaccination centres in Northumberland. And a team representing the CCC operations will be travelling to Minden for consultation as they set up their own centre at the S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena.
He read a thank-you letter from someone who'd had their vaccination there March 19, expressing gratitude to the health-care workers and volunteers “who made this such an amazing, comfortable and – yes – enjoyable experience.
“It all went so smoothly, with help available every step of the way, and it was an atmosphere of calm and caring.”
The mayor conveyed a welcome to the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit's new Medical Officer of Health Dr. Natalie Bocking, along with a special greeting to her predecessor, Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill “for the work he has done, particularly in the area of communications with the public. I felt it was certainly outstanding.”
Henderson urges every citizen who qualifies for a COVID-19 vaccination will call and get one – at 1-888-999-6488.
