Cobourg 2018 Budget Process Starts
The Town of Cobourg is beginning the process of preparing its 2018 Municipal Operating and Capital Budget, including Police and the Library.
It is inviting citizens to participate in the consultation process by sharing ideas on municipal service priorities and how they would like to see municipal tax dollars spent.
Deputy Mayor John Henderson said Council’s ultimate goal is to align the Town’s budget process, business plans, asset management plans and the Strategic Plan.
The process for reviewing the budget begins in October when the Management Team reviews their respective department’s preliminary budget numbers.
The Budget Committee, consisting of the Chief Administrative Officer, Deputy Mayor and the Treasurer then review the proposed budget and invite citizens to provide their feedback before a submission to Council for review.
Input and submissions can either be emailed to the Deputy Mayor at jhenderson@cobourg.ca or by attending the Budget consultation meeting on October 25th and making a presentation.
Each presenter will be allotted 15 minutes and should contact the Municipal Clerk Lorraine Brace in advance at 905-372-4301 or by email at lbrace@cobourg.ca.
A schedule of the budget hearings is available on the Town’s website at www.cobourg.ca.
