Goatchella 2022 A “Great Success”

Despite the heat, Goatchella 2022 was well attended on the weekend, with incredible food, events, and music, says the organizer.

An unprecedented number of attendees made their way to Haute Goat Farm in Port Hope on Saturday for a day of goat-related fun, said Debbie Foreman, the owner of the farm.

“We’ve had a terrific turnout,” says Foreman. “If I had to guess, I’d say about 600 or 700 people.”

Foreman said about 30 vendors of all kinds attended the event. In addition, several musical groups played over the course of the day, with the Spirits headlining the performances.

“[Goatchella 2022] has been amazing. It’s a little hot, but people don’t seem bothered by it,” said Foreman. “People are in good spirits; everyone’s feeling good, generally.”

Visitors enjoyed themselves.

“My favourite part has been the food,” Arlo Lawrence-Behar said. “Everybody is comfortable, nice and helpful. The goats are so friendly and generally really nice animals.”

There was a Pink Tie Dinner on Friday with lots of food and music, as well.

“The Pink Tie Dinner was fantastic; really great,” Foreman said the dinner itself was delicious and all locally-sourced.

“I would say [Goatchella 2022] is a great success,” said Foreman. “We have a great team who really care about the animals and the people. It’s a fantastic community and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
