Community Care Northumberland is proud to announce that its signature Handbags For Hospice event raised a total of $18,200 for Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre that opened in Hamilton Township in September.

Run as a “teaser” event in virtual on-line auction form from June 1 to 10, it showcased bags in a variety of different styles, colours, sizes and brands, many of which were generously donated by local retailers. All 52 bags were bid on and purchased and, combined with sponsorships and donations, raised more than $18,000.

Special Events Committee Chair (and Ed's House Foundation board member) Nancy Oliver said the event was a wonderful success.

“We thank our signature sponsor Tony Pulla RE/MAX Lakeshore Realty Inc. and Spoolon Manufacturing Ltd. and Mitzify Canada Inc. for their generous support, and look forward to our full event in February of 2022.”

An integral service of Community Care Northumberland, Ed's House is a hospice centre that provides resident care, grief and bereavement support, health-system navigation, caregiver support and palliative support to those with a life-limiting illness, their caregivers and their families – all at no cost to clients and their loved ones.
