The last payment has been made, and it's official – the Rotary Club of Northumberland Sunrise has fulfilled its commitment of $200,000 for Ed's House.
The final $20,000 cheque was presented this week in support of the Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, and club President Melanie Racine said in the announcement that it was a privilege to do so.
“Since Ed's House was opened in 2020, it is clear to our membership this service is important and valued by many in the community,” Racine said.
“In fact, my own family experienced the services at Ed's House when my grandfather needed end-of-life care.”
The donation was raised through various fund-raising events over the past few years, including Max Sold auctions, an annual golf tournament and Mother's Day Brunch boxes.
“Our members worked towards making this donation possible, and we are proud to have played a role in such an important cause,” Racine stated.
Community Care Northumberland Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird expressed her gratitude for this generous pledge.
“Their commitment to our mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care to our community is truly inspiring,” Baird said.
“This donation will make a significant impact on the lives of our patients and their families, allowing us to continue to provide the highest quality of care and support during their time of need.
“Thank you to all Sunrise members for your generosity and for helping us to fulfill our vision of creating a place where every person can experience comfort, dignity and peace during their final days.”
