County staff contribution to mass-vaccination clinic recognized

The April meeting of the Northumberland County council's Community Health Standing Committee opened with chair Gail Latchford's tribute to Northumberland County staff – not only for being on the front lines since the pandemic began, but also for their role in getting the mass-vaccination clinic going at the Cobourg Community Centre.

Staff from the Community and Social Services, Corporate Services, Information Technology, and Waste and Transportation departments came together to form a call centre, Latchford noted. With commitment and dedication, they made the calls that resulted in 3,000 seniors over the age of 80 got appointments for a shot.

Community Emergency Management Co-ordinator Ken Stubbings and Chief Administrative Officer Jennifer Moore worked with the Ontario Health Team-Northumberland on readying the arena to transition into a mass-vaccination centre.

Then there was the work of the Northumberland Paramedics and Golden Plough Lodge staff in administering inoculations.

“You are truly examples of the best of Northumberland County,” Latchford stated.
