Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini announces a new blow in the war against hallway health care with new funding to Campbellford Memorial Hospital.

The MPP made an announcement Tuesday morning of $329,900 in new funding, which works out to a 2% increase on the estimated base funding and one-time funding received in 2020-2021.

“This funding will help our hospital address some current challenges, and will ensure we can continue to provide high-quality patient care to the population we serve,” CMH President and Chief Executive Officer Margaret Beatty said in the press release.

“Today's announcement builds on previous historic investments at Campbellford Memorial Hospital, and it continues to send a clear message that this government is determined to fix the long-standing funding inequalities that for so many years have disadvantaged small and medium-sized hospitals,” Piccini added.

“These unprecedented times have highlighted the importance of having a strong health-care system, and I will continue to work alongside Campellford Memorial Hospital towards the goal of strengthening health care in our riding.”

Warden Bob Crate extended thanks on behalf of Northumberland County Council “for this investment in sustainable, responsive, quality health care for patients and families in Northumberland.

“This is further evidence of the province's commitment to ending hallway medicine, and to overcoming the challenges created by COVID-19 as our hospital – and our community – works towards recovery and renewal from the global pandemic.”
