Henley Arcade will be closed for a week

By Cecilia Nasmith

Visitors to downtown Cobourg who park in the Covert Street lot will have a longer walk beginning Sept. 12, as a week of maintenance work on the Henley Arcade begins.

The arcade, which occupies the site of a shoe-repair shop that burned down in the early 1970s, has long been a pass-through from the Covert Street lot to King Street. Artist Heather Cooper's work on the walls of the arcade recalls the long-ago business that operated in that location.

The maintenance work on the arcade is estimated to take from Sept. 12 through Sept. 19, during which time, visitors parking on the Covert Street lot will have to access King Street by walking east to Division Street or west to George Street.
