CCN announces outstanding success with its Volunteer Fair
By Cecilia Nasmith
Community Care Northumberland is pleased to share that their recent Volunteer Fair surpassed all their expectations.
“With the support of United Way and Cameco, almost 30 local agencies met and connected with almost 120 volunteers, filling critical volunteer positions that help these agencies function and provide service,” the announcement said.
CCN tackled this project – held Oct. 18 at the Cobourg Lions' Centre – with a view to addressing the major impact on volunteer recruitment that has resulted from more than two years of COVID-19. Volunteers are needed, the press release said, “and it's clear from the turnout coming out of the pandemic that people are ready to get involved and give back by volunteering.”
Organizers are fielding expressions of thanks from many of the participants, including Rebound Child and Youth Services and Northumberland Hills Hospital.
As for CCN, they know first-hand the value of the thousands of volunteers they rely on across the county to assist in such areas as program delivery, office administration and special events.
And on the heels of a very successful Volunteer Fair, CCN announces a training session coming yup for their Volunteer Peer Support Program, delivered in partnership with the Ontario Health Team-Northumberland to provide seniors with support that helps them stay in their own homes. Anyone interested can sign up by Oct. 27 by contacting Volunteer Peer Support Coordinator Kelly Peterson at k.peterson@commcare.ca or 905-373-2998 or 905-372-7356, or visit the Volunteer Peer Support Program web page at the Ontario Health Team-Northumberland web site.
