As Selena Forsyth reflected at the April meeting of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Board, the agenda portion that calls for reports from the Foundation and Auxiliary seem to consist of good news pretty consistently.
Delivering the Auxiliary report, Chair Forsyth did not depart from the pattern, reporting on a recent one-day 50%-off sale, for example, which raised $1,500.
Another 50%-off sale was planned for the Easter weekend - “50% off anything you can find that looks remotely like an Easter item, and anything yellow, pink, green or purple.”
The long-supportive Crafters group that created hand-crafted items and held a monthly sale in support of the hospital has declared they are taking a break, Forsyth said. Brainstorming will be undertaken on how they might be reconstituted.
Foundation Chair Wendy Ito said their organization was the beneficiary of a special event at the Port Hope McDonald's. To celebrate their grand reopening March 24 to 26, they donated all proceeds to the NHH maternal-child care unit. Ito added that McDonald's is also coming through on McHappy Day, May 10, when both the Cobourg and Port Hope McDonald's have chosen the NHH Foundation as their beneficiary for the second consecutive year.
Wine and Ale in the Park is back on the calendar for June 28, she continued.
“We call it our kickoff-to-the-summer event, and it has the reputation of selling out fast – and I am certain this will be the case this year,” she said, warning anyone who wants to be there to keep an eye out for news of tickets going on sale.
