La Jeunesse Choirs will present Descendants: The Musicalnext weekend at Victoria Hall in Cobourg.
Eighteen youth members of the musical theatre program and choirs make up the cast and are rehearsing for an evening performance on Friday, May 19 at 7 p.m. as well as 2:00 matinee and 7:00 evening shows on Saturday, May 20.
Emme Wilson, who plays Maleficent, loves being part of the La Jeunesse program.
“I love the teamwork and how many friends I’ve made through this and how the connection is really nice,” she said.
Descendants is based on popular Disney Channel original movies, Disney’s Descendants that Mark Nugent who plays Ben says audiences are sure to enjoy.
“The audience can expect great singing and acting and even dancing,” he said. “It’s just a great play I think they would enjoy.”
Matthew Hassard who plays Carlos says the play can appeal to all ages.
“It’s a good storyline with a bit of romance, a bit of evil, a bit of magic. It’s just a rounded play,” he said.
