County revises COVID-19 guidelines for staff

The rescinding of provincial guidelines on COVID-19 has resulted in a revised immunization policy for Northumberland County employees, as presented to the Corporate Support Standing Committee of Northumberland County council at its May meeting.

Health Safety Emergency Risk Manager Ken Stubbings reported that the County Emergency Control Group's revisions will shift to supporting general immunization against all infectious diseases (including COVID-19) as a best-practice preventive measure.

Requiring proof of vaccination for staff and new hires – even requiring rapid-antigen testing for those who refuse to disclose their vaccination status – is a thing of the past.

Except, committee chair Mandy Martin pointed out, at the Golden Plough Lodge, where vaccination is still required.

Correct, Stubbings said.

“The Golden Plough Lodge wants to do better than the protective measure of the policy,” he added.
