Driver shortage forces transit changes
By Cecilia Nasmith
A driver shortage is being cited by the Town of Cobourg as it announces changes to Cobourg Transit hours of operation.
To ensure optimal coverage during peak hours, the town is adjusting hours of operation for the on-demand service to 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. weekdays, 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Saturdays, and 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Sundays.
In the announcement, Director of Public Works Laurie Wills acknowledged the importance of this service to riders and to the community in getting to work, accessing medical appointments and running essential errands.
“(Service provider) Century Transportation is making it a priority to find new transit drivers so we can reinstate our full hours of operation,” Wills added.
Interested drivers are invited to apply on the Century Transportation website. Successful applicants who do not have a BZ driver's license will receive free training. For more details, visit https://tre.tbe.taleo.net/tre01/ats/careers/v2/viewRequisition?org=PWTCA&cws=95&rid=11926
