Cobourg schedules Christmas tree pickup

By Cecilia Nasmith

Cobourg's Public Works Division has issued an announcement that its Christmas tree collection is planned for the week of Jan. 10 – always keeping in mind that weather conditions may cause possible delays.

Separate trucks are deployed for pick-up, so that the trees can be processed and composted and then used internally by the town. The wood chips are used around newly planted trees, on street and parking-lot gardens, and along the dog-park pathways. The wood chips are not available to the public.

Residents are asked to place their trees curbside on Jan. 9, and to avoid wrapping them in plastic bags or tree bags – plastic-wrapped trees will not be collected.

Remove all metal ornaments, tree stands, tinsel and other decorations, and ensure trees are clear of snow and ice and easily accessible for pick-up.
