Drug warrant executed in the Township of Cramahe

On Tuesday December 10, 2019 members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team and a K9 unit, executed a Cannabis Act warrant at a building in the Township of Cramahe.

Investigators arrested three people and seized 3297 marihuana plants valued at over 3.25 million dollars. As a result of the investigation, a BMW motor vehicle, generator, snow blower, sprayer and $2500 dollars in cash have been seized.

Alex NGUYEN (age 21) of Toronto and Van Hung NGUYEN (age 49) of North York were arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

  • Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants

  • Cultivate or harvest any cannabis at a place that is not their dwelling house

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

David PHAM of Kitchener was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

  • Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants

  • Cultivate or harvest any cannabis at a place that is not their dwelling house

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis in a public place

The electrical services authority, fire department, and the township of Cramahe were also engaged with respect to the state of the building in which the cannabis was being grown in.
