Don't miss the Halloween Home Boo Tour

By Cecilia Nasmith

This Halloween season, the Town of Cobourg is encouraging you to make your home the spookiest – and to enjoy a self-guided tour to see how other local residents are getting into the spooky spirit.

They're calling it the Halloween Home Boo Tour, a chance not only to shiver to the creepy creativity of the Cobourg community but also to win great prizes for your own efforts to contribute to the eerie ambience.

“We want to continue to encourage safe and fun activities for all ages and, with the launch of the Halloween Home Boo Tour, everyone can get involved,” Deputy Community Services Director Teresa Behan said in the press release.

“Halloween is a special time for kids and adults alike and, as a town, finding new ways to celebrate this fun occasion responsibly and safely is important.

“I encourage everyone with a creative mind to enter and make this house tour fun for everyone.”

The invitation is out for everyone to decorate their homes – including windows, yards and balconies – in spooky Halloween decor. Include music, lights, inflatables, whatever. Then register to be included on the tour by completing the form at cobourg.ca/halloween by Wednesday, Oct. 20 and submitting a photo of your handiwork by Monday, Oct. 25.

As a bonus, every spooky home can be entered into a draw to win one of 10 $30 gift cards good at any local business.

Once all the homes are registered, a self-guided Halloween Home Boo Tour will be ready to offer residents of all ages an opportunity for a safe look at all the amazing artistry between Wednesday, Oct. 27, and Sunday, Oct. 31.

You can get a tour map of all the locations on the Experience Cobourg website, stating Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m. And paper copies will be available at Victoria Hall, the Cobourg Community Centre and the Cobourg Public Library.

The town reminds everyone enjoying the tour to please be respectful of the neighbourhoods and personal property by not touching the displays or encroaching on lawns and driveways.

“The Town of Cobourg would like to wish everyone a safe and fun Halloween!” the announcement said.

“Enjoy the tour.”
