NHH fundraiser at McDonald's

By Cecilia Nasmith

Among the many eagerly awaiting the grand reopening of the dining room at the Port Hope McDonald's, count the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

In an effort to give the celebration a community focus, this March 24-to-26 event will also be a fundraiser for the Foundation, with $1 donated from every meal sold that weekend in support of the hospital's Maternal Child Care Unit. As well, customers will have the option of making their own donations to help with the purchase of four Newborn Bassinets.

“We're grateful to have generous community partners like McDonald's,” Foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham said in the announcement.

“With a busy obstetrical program, staying current with the equipment necessary to serve families in our community is imperative. We're excited to have McDonald's step forward to organize this event, and help raise funds to support the purchase of Newborn Bassinets.”

“The last few years have heightened our appreciation for our community hospital, and we are grateful to all of its incredible staff,” said Lisa Wilson, owner and operator of the McDonald's located at 175 Rose Glen Rd. in Port Hope.

“We are excited to welcome the community to see our renovation and raise funds in support of such an important cause.”
