Progress on a new commercial development at King Street East and Brook Road South continued with Cobourg council endorsing a development agreement at Monday's committee-of-the-whole meeting.
A double parcel of land at the junction's northeast corner is owned by two proponents, Director of Planning and Development Glenn McGlashon said – King & Brook Inc. and King & Brookeast Inc. - and three structures are planned.
A 185-sq.-m. convenience store-and-gas bar will be right at the corner of King Street and Brook Road North, with a new 254-sq.-m. Tim Hortons (with drive-through) to the north of that.
These make up the first phase of construction. To follow later, on the parcel's east end, a three-unit 532-sq.-m. commercial building will be built, which will include another drive-through restaurant.
McGlashon added some details, such as access points from both King Street and Brook Road South.
The gas bar will have two electric-vehicle charging stations. Overall, he continued, there will be a total of 111 parking spaces with plenty of parking for bicycles.
McGlashon said it's a $5-million project, which will bring the town $72,700 in development charges, $18,000 in building-permit fees, $8,500 in application fees and deposits, and $6,000 for the municipal tree levy.
