Community Care Northumberland hosts Volunteer Fair

By Cecilia Nasmith

Community Care Northumberland is pleased to announce a Volunteer Fair being organized for local agencies and services county-wide in Cobourg on Oct. 18.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cobourg Lions Centre, and Community Care is interested in hearing from all local volunteer-based organizations who are interested in having a table.

Two-plus years of COVID-19 have taken their toll on volunteer recruitment and retention, the announcement noted, so it is more important than ever to consider giving back by volunteering. And there are many ways to do so, as proven by the thousands of Northumberland volunteers who assist with program delivery, office administration, fund raising, special events and more.

“We know at Community Care Northumberland that we couldn't deliver our programs and services without our volunteers,” Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator Colleen Williams said in the announcement.

“Volunteering also provides a great opportunity to give back to your community while meeting new friends and learning new skills. With this fair, you will have the opportunity to meet and learn about other volunteer-based organizations and choose the time commitment, location and volunteer opportunity best suited for you.”

Applications to participate will be accepted until Oct. 11, on a first-come-first-served basis. An application form can be downloaded at http://commcare.ca/volunteer/ - the form and payment can be submitted to Community Care Northumberland (attention: Colleen Williams) at cwilliams@commcare.ca or volunteer@commcare.ca
