Northumberland Diversity Festival runs Saturday

By Cecilia Nasmith

Northumberland County invites members of the community to a celebration of cultural diversity inclusion – complete with art, food and performances from around the globe – at Saturday's Northumberland Diversity Festival.

The Nov. 19 event, which runs from noon to 5 p.m. at Cobourg's Victoria Hall Concert Hall (55 King St. W.), highlights the many diverse cultures that enrich the local community through a variety of dance, music and comedy performances.

The entertainment line-up includes performances by Smoke Trail Drum and Dance Group, the Surviving Canada comedy show performed by Malas Juntas, a Tropical Sounds musical performance by Latin Train and more – a full event schedule will be announced on-line over the next few days.

There is also the opportunity to shop for unique arts and crafts from a diverse collection of artisan vendors, as well as a variety of tasty treats – arepas and other tidbits from Arepa Republic to showcase the delicious flavours of Venezuela.

To cover costs, there is an entry fee of $6 per person for those over the age of 12 (children aged 12 and under are admitted free), and organizers are asking that festival attendees register in advance on-line or by calling the Concert Hall box office at 905-372-2210.
