The Town of Cobourg, in partnership with the Downtown Business Improvement Area, is calling on all local artists to submit their creative picnic-table designs to be displayed throughout Downtown Cobourg and during the Pedestrian Friendly Walkway event.

The Painted Picnic Tables initiative is being undertaken to help beautify and transform the downtown area with the addition of colourful, unique displays handcrafted by local talent.

And as a bonus, these beautiful picnic tables will also provide extra seating in support of local downtown businesses and restaurants by both residents and visitors.

“I would like to encourage all of our talented local artists to submit their best and most creative designs in time for the DBIA’s second Pedestrian Friendly Walkway in July,” Councillor Adam Bureau said in the announcement.

The town will provide 10 picnic tables and all painting supplies, as well as an indoor location for artists to complete their work in time for the completed Painted Picnic Tables to make their debut during the July event. They will remain on display throughout the downtown and waterfront areas for the remainder of the summer.

To enter, submit your Painted Picnic Table design by Monday, June 25, to Community Events Co-ordinator Jackie Chapman-Davis at jchapmandavis@cobourg.ca. The creators of the winning designs will each receive a $1,000 honourarium.
