The long-awaited second annual Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner are now available.

Postponed from spring of 2020, this dinner will take place Nov. 12 in the main ballroom of the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre – cocktails at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30, followed by the induction ceremony.

One of the town's last public civic events before COVID shutdowns began was the March 2020 announcement of the second group of inductees to be honoured that evening – Gord Brooks, Neil Cane, Dr. Rev. Kevin Fast, Margie Matthews, Dan Milligan, Ken Petrie, Fred Simpson and Clarke Sommerville.

Their first induction had been held a year prior with a sold-out crowd in attendance - thanks to the work that has gone on since March 17, when a dedicated group of volunteers began collecting and cataloguing sports memorabilia and historical information to preserve the rich legacy of sport to be found in our communities. A selection of this memorabilia is showcased in the main hall of the Cobourg Community Centre, and the full collection can be viewed online at cdshf.ca.

The Master of Ceremonies for the second annual Induction Dinner on Nov. 12 will be Joel Scott. Tickets are $80 per person, available by e-mailing info@cdshf.ca or purchasing in person at Kelly's Homelike Inn (205 Third St.), Sommerville's Sporting Goods (78 King St. W.) and the Cobourg Community Centre. (750 D'Arcy St.).

All COVID-19 protocols will be in place, including the required proof of vaccination.

The Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame is supported through the donations of materials, services and financial contributions from local individuals and community groups. It encompasses the Town of Cobourg, Alderville First Nation, and the Townships of Hamilton, Alnwick-Haldimand and Cramahe.
